For artisan Doug Louie, the secret to custom millwork is choosing the right wood for the environment, and then staying true to its natural qualities and characteristics. Dramatic olive ash burl and 24 karat gold were the best match for a Falcon 50 corporate jet interior, but when it came to the Resberg Library, he designed cherry wood panels to compliment Old-World-inspired furnishings. “You don’t want to make a piece of fir look like mahogany,” he says.

Meticulous and precise, Douglas works with a small team of skilled craftsmen to design wood interior spaces, floors, cabinetry, and furnishings. He has collaborated with Peter Fluker for more than a decade.
