TOUCHSTONE BLUFF
Perched on a rugged northwest-facing slope the Touchstone Bluff reclines gracefully into Whistler Mountain from which it came. This half-hidden building, organic in its form, is a peaceful temple for the spirit of those who inhabit it.

Upon entering the house, one will discover sweeping valley views interspersed with intimate exposures into the forest. Virtually every room, created to optimize light and views, will open onto a series of terraces eliminating the boundaries between inside and out. This achieved by extending the multistory home set into the hillside laterally across the site with decks becoming rooftops for the living space below.

This mountain home, creates intimacy in its design, with the master suite set at the top of the site, the main entry and living space tiered below with family and guest accommodations to satisfy 8 at the forest floor.

Throughout the building, vertical walls of unbroken sheets of glass mix seamlessly with walls and columns of stone, rough-hewn fir in its natural state connects the stone structure and dissolves into the landscape.

With floor plans to allow for the play of light, this home would not be complete without a glass sculpture gallery descending three levels down the expansive pinnacle stairwell to be viewed from all angles of this mountain living jewel.
